Just scored on a rd400e seat, even has the side trim! It's not perfect, but it'll save me $50 plus shipping from the UK for the trim, fixing my tail section and matching them both to the original paint side cover/oil tank :)
Gonna try the stepped seat, or replace it with one of mine.
So, there's a pretty high chance of me selling both the seat and tank from my profile (and all the above pics) if anyone fancies them?

Here's the pics:

The seat is an inch or two shorter than stock , which I'm not crazy about. Luckily, I'm gonna be able to use half of the original hinges, and move the seat mounting post back a couple of inches, so it'll be just a little shorter. Really snug w tool tray, but  I'll  remove that, it'll give me easier mounting possibilities for my tail light.
I'll try for photos this afternoon, still gotta Por-15 the coffin tank...

Removing a front seat mount was a real chore, even drilling out what looked to be 6 spot welds, it still put up one hell of a fight. I fabbed up a replica out of some steel, so hopefully, I'll modify or remove the other, and get them mounted in the next day or two, and work on a tail light mount.  :umm:

The beehive will really accent the pipes, I think.

Got the seat mounting brackets/posts moved back, it's just sitting on there for the pics. Sadly, the Lucas tail light will need a more vertical mount, to avoid the droop
Still, the slightly shorter than stock seat looks pretty good, now to get it all mounted properly,w the bobber fender and inner rear to be fitted next.
Progress!
