Hi all, I pick my new (to me) 85 RZ350 tomorrow and I am excited to ride a two stroke twin again.

I bought a 79 RD400F from Fullerton Yamaha (anyone remember them?) back when I was stationed at El Toro (pic of the RD below - for bonus points, name the pipes!). We had good times watching the drag races at OCIR next door to the base too. I put over 50k on that RD before I sold it, great bike. I never thought I'd get rid of it until I was living in Phoenix in 84 and bought an RZ350.

Had lots of fun on the RZ, raced at Sears Point & Willow Springs (#480). For some reason I sold it but now, well, tomorrow anyway, I will own an RZ again.

Thanks to all here for the great info!

Linked below, my RD & RZ

Welcome to the forum   Cheers!  I currently live just down the road from the old El Toro base.
It is currently being turned into a "Great Park" and business/housing devlopment.  And of course, OCIR is long gone.  Sad

here are a couple of your photos.  Thumbs Up

Man all the old school racers are legend.  Look how everone was able to balance their bikes w/o putting their feet on the ground.  I still have a long way to go  Razz
