I'm pretty green but that looks like a lot of gear for 500 bucks?  Am I correct in assuming that?  I have a meeting with Gary at Spec II at 11 today and we may need this for a project.  It would change the wheel situation were looking at but I need forks anyway and a triple and I've been looking for a way to slow the thing down well...

opinions on value on that listing?

Looks like:
XS400 (or machined RD400F) front wheel, FZR600 rotors
custom caliper brackets and custom fork brace, and I'm guessing they are TX500 lowers. That fork brace looks pretty clunky.
I'm thinking that might be Dr. Landau's old front end.

You can source your own used parts for cheaper IMHO. $500 is a lot of money for what's in the picture.
For example, ifyou use an FZR600 front end you don't need to make caliper brackets or a fork brace, but you do need axle spacers, rotor spacers, and you'll need to pick a solution for the steering stem (either modify the stem or add a frame tube extension).

Damon, you'll get a lot of opinions on here about upgrading front brakes. Most will tell you that the stock RD350/RD400 front end is more than enough, even for racing. The dual-disc upgrade adds weight and extra braking power that may not even be necessary. It's mostly for the "bling factor".  There are some threads on this site discussing the pros/cons of front brake upgrades. If you're looking to make your bike custom with different front brakes there are quite a few threads on here about grafting other forks/brakes onto RDs.

Thanks SoCal... appreciate the info.

I bought it.  I really needed the forks and the triples for this project more so than an rd400 wheel or a dual disk set-up but we'll see what happens.  I agree with you completely on the stock abilities of the brakes.  Gary at Spec II had another guy working on something more blingy that was interested in the front wheel and dual disc set up.  I'm going to run spoked wheels on this 350 build (400 motor) because I like the look and would like to save the weight.  Gary thinks he can find a hub that'll fit those dual disks that we can lace to the sun rims and run that set up on it... we'll see.

Damon, the TX500 hub (I believe from a 1973 model) is set up for dual discs and is for a spoked wheel. That's what you need. ;)

EDIT: Damon, sent you a PM
