Welcome to the Suzuki RV Wiki!

This wiki is designed to provide information for the Suzuki RV series of motorcycles. This information in this wiki will be based primarily around the RV90, as it is what I have the most experience with.

Why an RV Wiki?

Well, necessity, really. There is very little information available on the RV series of motorcycles.

What is an RV?

The Suzuki RV series of motorcycles was introduced in 1972. They are known in non-US countries as VanVan, a word expressing a sound like "Bang" or "Keep going" in Japanese. Rv's came in 4 different displacements: 50cc, 75cc, 90cc, and 125cc. Early RV's (72-79) were all 2-strokes. The VanVan was reintroduced in Europe and Japan in the early 2000's in 125cc 4-stroke form. This Wiki is primarily concerned with the first-generation, 2-stroke models.

RV's were originally envisioned as a beach bike (hence the fat tires) and around town runabout. Due to unfortunate timing on Suzukis part, beach bikes were a dying fad when the RV was introduced. Suzuki then started promoting them more as a good all-around bike, meant to ride on trails, beaches, and fields, as well as an around town bike. They even went as far as to market it as a farm bike, offering an enclosed chain and lockable throttle.

RV's were offered from 1972 through 1979. In the US, early RV's are the most common, and 90cc is the most common engine size by a large margin. 125cc and 50cc models are much harder to find, and the 75 was never offered in the US.
